Clinics

The University of Miami’s Department of Community Service (DOCS) proudly operates five student-run free clinics across the greater Miami area, offering unique opportunities for medical students to make a meaningful impact in the community. These clinics serve as platforms for students to give back, receive mentorship from physicians, and gain invaluable experience as integral members of healthcare teams.

Together, these clinics play a pivotal role in providing essential healthcare services to our underserved, uninsured, and vulnerable communities who, due to a myriad of reasons, might otherwise face barriers to accessing quality care. Our overarching mission is to promote health equity in the greater Miami community, ensuring that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to the healthcare services they deserve.

Our clinics include the DOCS Center for Haitian Studies (CHS) Clinic, DOCS IDEA Clinic, DOCS San Juan Bosco (SJB) Clinic, DOCS Miami Rescue Mission (MRM) Clinic, and DOCS Rapid Access Wellness (RAW) Clinic. Each clinic addresses the healthcare needs of distinct patient populations, sharing the common goal of delivering excellent and compassionate healthcare to the underserved.

  • DOCS Center for Haitian Studies (CHS) Clinic: Every Monday evening starting at 4:30 pm, CHS provides primary care, cardiology, and women’s health services to residents of Little Haiti and neighboring Miami communities.
  • DOCS San Juan Bosco (SJB) Clinic: Each Tuesday evening starting at 4:30 pm, SJB offers specialty care services, including Urology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, and Cardiology, alongside physical therapy services for underserved individuals, with a focus on Hispanic and Spanish-speaking communities.
  • DOCS Miami Rescue Mission (MRM) Clinic: Every other Wednesday evening starting at 4:30 pm, MRM delivers specialty healthcare services, including Nephrology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, and Urology to over 200 unhoused or at-risk men at the Miami Rescue Mission shelter.
  • DOCS Rapid Access Wellness (RAW) Clinic: Every Wednesday starting at 4:30 pm, RAW provides accessible infectious disease prevention and treatment, as well as gender-affirming care to the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
  • DOCS IDEA Clinic: Every Tuesday afternoon starting at 3 pm, IDEA offers needle exchange services, wound care, and infectious diseases treatment and prevention, in addition to other harm reduction services.

Recognizing that many clinic visitors may have limited exposure to the healthcare system, DOCS strives not only to provide high-quality care but also to empower patients to take an active role in managing their health. Our volunteers present educational sessions on various topics, fostering a culture of health literacy and advocacy.

At all DOCS clinics, student volunteers actively engage in patient care by conducting initial patient histories and physical exams. Collaborating closely with physician volunteers, they develop individualized healthcare plans for each patient. Emphasizing peer-learning, underclassmen and upperclassmen students work together in volunteer teams.

Join us at any of our student-run clinics, where healthcare meets compassion, and together, uniting us to shape a healthier and more empowered community.
