Research & Quality Improvement

Welcome to DOCS Research & Quality Improvement

The purpose of DOCS is to serve South Florida communities with free access to health screenings for chronic, treatable diseases. DOCS has a very rich and vulnerable patient population and a unique structure in terms of the services we provide and our elaborate student network. Research and quality improvement projects are a really important part of the sustainability and continued growth of DOCS.

These projects allow us to evaluate our current processes and implement quality improvement projects and new initiatives that will help in our ultimate goal of improving the quality of care we provide patients. We can provide so many valuable services, but without having a systematic way of analyzing the purpose or outcomes of those services, it becomes a fragmented system that doesn’t address what our effects mean at a larger scale.

RQI is an avenue through which we can actively reflect on our standard of care and how to make it better both from our ability to serve as a bridge in connecting patients to the health care system and to better train medical students in various aspects of physician-ship.

If you are interested in identifying current issues and creating solutions to improve DOCS, there are many ways to get involved, such as by submitting a research proposal of your own or submitting suggestions and ideas you would like the RQI team to work on.

If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail the RQI team at DOCS-RQI@listserv.miami.edu
